So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
How do I really give glory to God in the way I eat and drink? I mean, there are definites: don’t be a sloppy drunk and don’t eat too much. But the more I study Jesus’ Unforced Rhythms of Grace, the more I realize that He wasn’t about not-tos. He didn’t shake his finger at the drunks, and he didn’t seem too hindered by religious do’s and don’ts. He concerned himself with Love.
So, this week, as you go about the most mundane moments of your life, refocus your attention on how you can do them in love. Make dinner with love. Rest in love. Fold laundry, mow the lawn, run the errands focused on His love.
Look for opportunities to be love at the grocery store, school pick-up line, and while you’re waiting for your latte at Starbucks. Focus on the people you’re bumping elbows with, the barista who may just need an extra smile.
Love is your glory: the only glory to save us, the only glory worth living and eating and drinking for.
Focus on Jesus, and whatever you do, your out-pouring will bring glory to God.
Have a beautiful, glory-filled week.
